Fourteen year old William Draper produced the ride of the night in the under 16 racing bikes, attacking on the penultimate lap and powering away from his older rivals for an impressive victory. Matthew Draper took the bunch sprint for second ahead of Owen Dudley, Michael Moss, Conor Davies, Nathan Hinks, Thomas Bostock, Adam Kelly and top junior girl Elizabeth Holden. Sophie Black was a solid tenth and Max Walker led the second group of chasers home to grab 11th place.
The under 12 racing bikes ended in a nine-strong group gallop, with Charlie Gibson pipping Aaron Lund and James Harrison for the honours. Percy Hampton was fourth, closely followed by Will Corkill, Jonty Bregazzi, Jake Wilson, Tommy Skillicorn and Tyler Hannay. Greeba’s Shellan Leeming was the leading girl in 14th spot.
Niall Colquitt led from start to finish in the under 10 racing bikes, crossing the line well clear of a group of six chasers. Ralf Holden outgunned Cian Jackson, Nathan Slack, James Devereau, Cameron Dudley and Drystan Sewell in the dash for second, while Mairi Harrison maintained station to take the girls’ prize in eighth position. Kiera Prentice and Harry Kneen completed the top ten.
In the preceding classes Emily Rewsin got the ball rolling with a decisive solo win in the novices race . Tristan Speight and Harry Wilson trailed in separately for second and third, with Lucy Cartwright ousting Jacob Gibb for fourth. Carter Kneale led Alex Montgomery, Max Messenger and Abigail Cowell home to complete the top six.
Notching up his second success in as many weeks, Callum Christian was too quick for Cameron Hounsell in the battle for the top slot in the born 2009 & later age group. Kylan Murphy snatched third from fellow chasers Joseph Barker, Jarno Davidson, Graihagh Morgan, Brad Le Geyt and Stanley Kinnish, while Florrie Thomas held off Harrison Skillan, Dylan Bullock and Lewis Cannon in the tussle for ninth.
Alec Sorby made an early bid for glory in the born 2008 category and stayed clear to the finish. Ollie Eyres overtook Myles Le Geyt in the closing stages to grab the runners-up spot and Fearne Bregazzi rode away from a group of five riders to secure fourth. T.J.Teare outsprinted Oliver Cooper for fifth and Edward Field beat Joel Long in the rush for seventh. George Kinnish and Lennon Moore rounded off the top ten.
In the born 2007 event Cian Howard soloed to his twelfth straight win. Rio Kelly got the verdict over Florence Griffin and Orry Lund in the charge for second and Cory Corkhill headed Charlie Scarffe and Jordan Carter over the line for fifth. Jemma Quayle was a safe eighth and Ben Davies got past Ed Coole to claim ninth.
Drystan Sewell outsprinted breakaway partner Ivan Sorby for his maiden win in the born 2006 class. Harry Callin outran Samuel Devereau, Tom Darnill and Rebecca Cooil in the fight for the final place on the podium, with Connor Moughtin, Corbin Stewart, Lucy Field, Corey Peters and Imogen Cooper finishing separately for seventh to 11th positions respectively.
Leaving nothing to chance, Niall Colquitt clipped off the front of a leading break of eight riders in the born 2005 event and time trialled to the finish. Harry Kneen got away from Oliver Corkish, Tyler Annis and Alexander Deering to secure second, while Harry Boyle was too strong for Mairi Harrison and James Scott in the struggle for sixth. Luke Robinson and Frank Kinnish wrapped up the top ten.
In the born 2004 class James Devereau came from behind to pip Nathan Slack for the win. Kiera Prentice repelled a strong challenge from Megan Boardman to take third and Toby Craig beat Ben Boyle, Annabel Corkill and Amy Quayle in the rush for fifth.
Finally, Tyler Hannay went from the gun in the born 2003 & earlier grouping and held onto his position at the head of the race all the way to the chequered flag. Jonty Bregazzi spearheaded the chasing pack over the line for second, with Percy Hampton grabbing third ahead of Corrin Leeming, Joseph Corkish, Matthew Cooil, Matthew Black and Emma Draper.
