Kinsely takes Victory in the GGCC Evening Road Race in Eaglesham

The first year Junior from Edinburgh has only been racing for a year but this was his second victory to date. Although coming to the sport late Alex’s natural speed is impressive and is an interesting one to watch.

Rounding out the top three is another Junior Fraser Martin (Perth United Cycling Club) that finished 2 seconds back on the uphill finish. Martin was up for the race and active from the start which is good to see, for these guys learning how to race is as important as the race itself!

The most dangerous move of the race came when Iain Elliot (West Lothian) and John Gartland (GJS) attacked up the climb up the Clunch Road and put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack. On the A77 Fraser Martin (Perth), Tom Macdonald (Lomond roads), Robert Hamilton (Glasgow Cycle Team) joined them to make a strong break of 5 that looked to stand a chance if they would have fully committed however, by the end of the A77 the race was all back together. At speeds between 30 and 40 miles per hour only a totally committed group would stand a chance against the mass of the peloton.

The promoting club – Glasgow Green Cycle Club is a relatively new club but they are one of the most proactive clubs around. The club was founded by the super enthusiastic duo of Ray Hicks and Andy Dobinson.
