Manchester Premier Track League lives up to it’s billing with World Champions, Olympic Champions, National Champions and GB Academy riders racing on Tuesday evening
With two full groups (24 in each) racing the Manchester Premier Track league, it certainly lived up to its name last night with World Champions, Olympic Champions, National Champions and GB Academy riders on the boards. Add in coaches Chris Newton, Paul Manning and Keith Lambert and it was a lively night.
IG-Sigma Sport’s World and Olympic Champion Steven Burke made an appearance for the first time in two years and the young guns gave him a pretty good run out after his ‘timeout’ post London 2012. Shame there were no World Champion bands on his kit.
Olympic champions Laura Trott and Danni King were both in the thick of the action and Danni in particular gave the boys a lesson in point scoring in the 50 lap points race, only to be out gunned in the closing stages when attacking in two’s and three’s look laps. But it was the 100% ME academy riders show as ever with them winning seven of the eight races. Only league leader Adam Dugglby (Maxgear) got in the way of a clean sweep and despite the domination by the GB riders, their wins were far from walk overs and they had to fight hard against plenty of emerging and established talent.
