QUIZ TIME! Q&A with Zack Lowe (Prologue Race Team)

In 2025, Zack Lowe has joined the Prologue Junior Race Team from Clifton CC where he enjoyed success during the past two years in the Under 16 Youth ranks. This season sees Zack step up from the shorter Youth races to the longer format Junior racing with larger fields, longer distances and racing on open roads, both here in Britain and abroad in International events.

VeloUK: How’s your first season as a junior shaping up?
Zack: I’m aiming to start my season off with the National Track Championships this month at Manchester where I’ll be racing both Scratch and Points. But the start to my road season will be out in Spain on the 1st of March at the UCI Garn Primo San Vicente Costa Blanca Juniors – a 2-day event with a TT and a very hilly road race. The team managers, Rob and Glen, have done a great job of getting the team into some great international races this season. It’s a full calendar of ten European races combined with the British National Junior Road Series. Stepping up to junior racing, the support and advice from the team is appreciated.

VeloUK: What results are you most proud of from last year?
Zack: Despite injuries, I had a good season last year. I’m most proud of my win in Round Two of the National Youth Omnium series in Dundee, as well as my 4th on GC at the Pembrey Youth Two Day where I was in a four up break for the last 30 minutes of the race. We only just held off the peloton to stay away, gaining enough time to put the whole break into the top four on GC.

VeloUK: How’s the winter training going? I hear you were off the bike with an injury at the end of 2024.
Zack: Unfortunately, this winter, my training hours were reduced after breaking my wrist at the end of November. That said, I still managed to train 8 to 10 hours a week on the turbo for the seven weeks in pot, while also studying for my GCSEs at the same time.

VeloUK: With your first race being in Spain, have you had any experience racing abroad before?
Zack: I’ve never raced abroad before this year. I was due to race a few times in Belgium mid-way through last season but breaking my hand put a stop to that. I’m really looking forward to finally travelling with the team and racing as it’s a part of the sport that really excites me.

VeloUK: Prologue look to have a good line up of races this year, what are you most looking forward to?
Zack: It’s a strong squad with an exciting race programme. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the European scene, especially the multi-day races. The season kicks off in March with back-to-back weekends racing in Spain at Costa Blanca Challenge and Gran Premi KH7. We’ve then got a few races back in the UK before heading out to Italy in April. It’s going to be an experience testing myself against the best riders on the Junor scene. I’ve got a strong road and track background and see myself as a good all-rounder/rouler.

Good luck to Zack in 2025 and hope he can fulfil his potential with his new team.
