With the cyclocross season in full swing already, next, its the turn of the National Trophy Series to kick off at Moorways Leisure Centre in Derby thanks to John Holmes and his crew.

JUNIOR MEN
Last year’s Junior Series winner Oscar Amey is back wearing number 1! Oscar is for sure one of the favourites in a race that is expected to be one of the best of the weekend. Number 2, Jamie Stewart, was 8th in the series last winter, and number 3, Declan Oldham, was 7th in the 2023/24 series. Others from last year who were first year juniors, and in the top 10 of the series includes trainSharp’s Mak Larkin and Freddie Dixon. And just like Oscar Amey, a first year junior last year and winner of the series, there are lots of newcomers to the category like Innes McDonald from Scotland who are expected to be competing for the podium.

SENIOR WOMEN
British champion Anna Kay is back in Derby ahead of a season in Europe and the favourite for the win at Moorways. National Trophy series winner for seniors and under 23 women, Elena Day returns too and is another rider expected to be at the sharp end of the race. Second in the Trophy Series last winter and a regular winner in the Welsh league, Ruby James is back in Derby as is third in the 2023/24 series, Hope Inglis. The host teams (Empella) Alderney Baker is another of the front riders along with her teammate Kate Eedy. Another name to look for at the front is Esther Wong along with Xan Crees and Alice Colling. Exciting racing expected!

SENIOR MEN
The legend Thomas Mein wears number 1 for Derby. Thomas won the National Trophy in 2023/24 and was second in the British championship this year. Toby Barnes, second in last winters National Trophy is back as is Ben Chilton after a season on the road in France. Ben was 9th overall in the last National Trophy. Dan Barnes, winner of the Under 23 series last winter, returns as does leading rider Jenson Young.

Others expected to be in the mix at the front include Alfie Amey and Spencer Corder of Rotor race team who’s had a winning start to his season. The list of top riders goes on and on in the start list with well known riders such as Simon Wyllie, Tom Couzens, Joe Coukham, Frederik Scheske and others out to make a name for themselves. Oh, and the race includes vet legends Paul Oldam and Nick Craig on the list to be on the start line at Moorways. What a race it should be!
