British women’s pro cycling team, Team WNT, is granted a UCi Licence and finalises its roster

News: Team WNT Granted UCI Licence

Team WNT Pro Cycling has finalised its roster ahead of what will be an exciting 2017 season competing across Europe as it makes the step up to be a UCI Women’s Team.

In readiness, it has made changes both to its backroom staff and to the rider line-up that now contains National, Olympic and World Championship winners.

The new line-up features many familiar faces with a number of riders re-signing for another season and they are joined by new team members that have attained the highest accolades in cycling between them.

The 2017 rider line-up is supported by a new backroom team that combines cycling experience with strong team management and coaching expertise.

The full rider line-up for 2017 is:

This impressive group of riders will be cared for during races by newly appointed Soigneur and former professional rider, Jessie Walker, with Graeme Herd taking up the position of Director Sportif after his successful guest appearance at the Rás na mBan race in Ireland.

This mix of current and past National, Olympic and World Champions has created a squad with terrific strength in depth that has experience at the highest level of racing. The team has also been built to provide a mix of sprinters, climbers and overall road racers that will give Team WNT Pro Cycling the best opportunity to achieve its targets for the coming season, it’s first as a UCI Women’s team.

In addition to WNT as title sponsor, Team WNT Pro Cycling is pleased to announce the continued, and extended, support of its three principle equipment partners, Specialized, Hope Technology and Rotor. Specialized has increased its participation with Team WNT Pro Cycling as, in addition to providing each rider with a Specialized S-Works Tarmac framesets, it will also be supplying the team with Specialized S-Works Shiv Time Trial Module’s; Specialized S-Works Women’s Evade, S-Works Women’s Prevail II and S-Works TT helmets; and Specialized Women’s S-Works 6 Road Shoes.

Hope Technology is again partnering the team with its high-tech Carbon 45 wheels with custom team finish and graphics, along with customised Hope hubs. Rotor will also continue to provide Team WNT Pro Cycling with its innovative Q rings and 2INpower crank sets. Both Hope Technology and Rotor make use of WNT cutting tools in the manufacture of their products, giving a perfect synergy to the partnerships.

The team will have two training camps before the season gets underway, along with team building events to develop a greater bond between individuals and to ensure they are all fully prepared for the coming season.

Katie Archibald: Olympic Champion (Team Pursuit 2016), World Champion, 8 x European Champion, Commonwealth medallist and multiple National Champion

Anna Badegruber: Austrian National Hill Climb Champion

Hayley Jones: Former member of the British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme, 4th in the U23 National Time Trial Championships

Emily Kay: Senior World Cup Omnium winner, U23 European Team Pursuit Champion, Junior World Team Pursuit Champion, and recently won silver and bronze medals in the Elite European Track Championships.

Josie Knight: Junior European Individual Pursuit Silver medallist, 2016 Senior Irish National Omnium Champion

Elise Maes: Competed for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in the Road Race World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Eileen Roe: 2014 and 2016 British National Criterium Champion, 2014 Matrix Fitness GP Tour Series champion

Gabriella Shaw: Member of the winning team at the Matrix Fitness GP Tour Series for the last three years

Hayley Simmonds: 2016 British National Time Trial champion, holder of three British time trial records at 10-mile (18mins 36secs), 25-mile (49mins 28secs) and 50-mile (1hr 42mins 20secs), all achieved in 2016.
