What a day for the young talents of our sport! The day began with 17 year Harry Hudson winning the time trial up the iconic climb of Holme Moss ahead of Adam Howell and Jake Edwards (all very young riders!) with Rowan Baker in 4th.

Next up was the Women’s final stage and it was a true day of attrition with lots of attacking and the front group getting smaller and smaller each lap until with the bell, another young rider, Esther Wong was off the front solo! Esther was caught on the descent of the finish climb shortly after but still had the legs at the end to win the sprint and the stage ahead of Elizabeth Hermolle and Holly Ramsey. In 5th was race leader Lucy Gadd who held on to win by just 8 seconds from Elizabeth Hermolle with Lucy Harris in third.

The final stage for the Men, like the women’s stage, was attacking as the strong riders used their power on the climbs to make the front group smaller and smaller until Rowan Baker attacked about just over half way into the race and drew a three up group away and then used his power to drop one of the three riders and then the other, leaving Rowan on his own for the last two laps. I saw him lap a group at the bell and the speed he went past them was phenomenal! Rowan won the stage by over 4 minutes from William Taylor with a great solo chase and stage 1 winner Adam Howell proving that his stage 1 win was no fluke – talented! Overall Baker won from Adam Howell and a rider always seen near the front, Will Truelove.

Well done to all the riders on such tough roads and in even tougher conditions! And congrats to all who worked on the race including the organiser James Hawkins for yet another memorable event!
