James Moore from the promoting club Welland Valley CC winner of the NCRA Handicap Road Race on March 1 for the first event of a series of 6 handicap road races
Result: NCRA Handicap Road Race (March 1)
There were riders of ages ranging from 16 to 74 on the start line for the first event of a series of 6 handicap road races. The start had to be delayed by an hour for the ice to melt on the finishing straight, the sun soon came out and the riders were basking in 8 degrees. The scratch group and group 4 came together on lap 2 out of 3 but failed to make it to the front of the race due to a strong ride by group 3 who mopped up all the other riders on the final lap, James Moore from the promoting club Welland Valley CC showed the juniors how to sprint by winning the 23 rider gallop by a clear bike length. Juniors took 2nd, 3rd and 5th place with best junior on the day Harry Tozer – Lea Valley and first lady was Charlotte Deykin in 6th place only half a wheel ahead of 2nd lady Harriet Evans in 8th place.
