SUNDAY: Bath Road Club Junior National Series Road Race
25th ANNIVERSARY JUNIOR ROAD RACE

A race with former Tour de France and Giro d Italia winners on the roll of honour, Geraint Thomas and Tao Geoghegan Hart, will take place this Sunday in Buckinghamshire. The race shares the same anniversary as I do with what I do, 25 years with EF Pro Cycling’s Tom Southam the first winner and Will Gilbank, winner of a stage of the Tour of Ireland in 2024, the last winner of the race in 2023.

Back at the start of the races history, the event was taking place on my training roads, tough roads with a finishing climb that had me breathing through my ears! The list of former winners has such world star names as Tom Pidcock, Chris Lawless, Alex Dowsett and Luke Rowe among its illustrious list. In 2024, the British Junior Road Race champion Oliver Dawson, is on the start list. The names on the startlist also includes many a potential winner and on a circuit with plenty of opportunities to dance clear of rivals, the race should be quite a grippy one.

Starts 11am
Distance: 5¾ LAPS – 115KM
HQ: The Cottersloe School, Aylesbury Road, Wing, LU7 0PB

COURSE: From HQ proceed north through Wing village under neutralised flag turn onto unclassified road to Stewkley. Race will be deneutralised once joining the circuit (MP2).

In Stewkley (MP3) turn left onto unclassified road towards Dunton. Continue through Dunton to junction with A413. Turn left (MP5).

Proceed on A413 straight over the mini roundabout on outskirts of Whitchurch and through Whitchurch (care: central bollards in road) turn left (MP6) on unclassified road direction Wing.

Proceed up climb (ouch!) through finish on outskirts of Cublington, straight through village (MP1) to junction on outskirts of Wing where turn sharp left (MP2) to complete one circuit.
