With the 11th of February closing date approaching, the 80 rider maximum has not been reached yet and with only two Elite entries to date more Elite riders are wanted for the race. Former winner Si Wilson is expected to be on the start.

Clayton Spring Classic Handicap organiser Neil Welsh has confirmed that title sponsorship of the 56th annual running of the event on 25/2 will come from Blackburn-based Accountancy firm PM+M. The firm already has a strong cycling connection through their regular cycle networking events for business professionals, which bring keen cyclists closer to the Audit, Accounting, Cloud, Tax, Payroll, Corporate Finance and Financial Planning services they offer.

Secondary support has been secured from Burnley College via their £6.5m Fitness Evolution centre. The prize list will be strengthened by session vouchers providing access to: – Cryotherapy suite (reaching minus 90 degrees)
– Environmental chamber (controlling humidity, altitude, temperature and oxygen levels)
– Hydrotherapy suite (including Jacuzzi, plunge pool, sauna and steam room)
– High performance gym
– Treatment centre

The facilities are used by the College’s Elite Athletes, as well as visiting professional athletes and sports teams, as well as students on Sport and Fitness courses who will have access to the very latest, cutting-edge facilities and equipment.
