Danni Shrosbree and Monte Guerrini winners at the RCR CAMS Goodwood Handicap circuit races on August 1st

Crit Result: RCR CAMS Goodwood Handicap

Fourteen laps of the 2.4 mile circuit saw Monte Guerrini take the victory in a closely contest bunch sprint. Lewis Childs finished 2nd and Lee Smith rounded off the podium. The handicap format saw a strong scratch group containing the likes of Ed Clancy OBE, Tom Portsmouth, Alex Dowsett (4th) and Ollie Peckover to chase back a 5’30 gap to the head of the race. The race was consistently being thinned down from the 92 starters. The scratch group finally made contact with 5 laps to go and stayed together for a sprint of what was left of the bunch.

The women’s race was also a handicap and was a complete different race. With a three minute time gap, it all came back together around the half way mark. Dani Shrosbree and Bexy Dew forced a split taking Anya Tamplin and Caitlin Bower with them, eventually finishing in those positions. The bunch sprint for 5th was taken by Chloe Elvin.
