News: World Masters Track Championships

A reminder to all trackie masters to enter the UCI World Masters Championships or to book your spectator tickets.

The cyclingmasters web site www.cyclingmasters.com has all the information you will need to either enter or spectate at this year’s UCI Masters Track World Championships.

The 2023 championships will take place over 8 days at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester from September 30th through to October 7th with five individual events, time trial, sprint, pursuit, points and scratch races plus two team events, team sprint and team pursuit. The women’s team sprint will now be on a par with the men with 3 riders taking part over 3 laps of the 250 metre velodrome.

The winner in each category will receive a coveted UCI World Masters Champion Rainbow Jersey and a Winners medal with second and third places also on the podium to receive their silver and bronze medals.

The draft events schedule is based on the 2019 championships held at Manchester but this will be reviewed and finalised once entries close on September 3rd. The events are in 5 year age groups from 35 years old upwards for the individual events and 10 year age groups for the team events.

The championships will be streamed live using a multi-camera system. A link to this will be advertised once available.

Hotel and transport arrangements are also on the web site.

A major refurbishment of The National Cycling Centre is now complete with new seating, lighting, scoreboard and timing plus numerous upgrades to the ancillary facilities and a new cafeteria. The World Masters Championships will be the first major international event to be held at the National Cycling Centre following this refurbishment.

We are all set to get the championships cracking and look forward to welcoming you all in September but please enter or book your spectator tickets as soon as possible.

Ian Emmerson OBE, Championships Organiser (July 26th)
