Canyon dhb SunGod: Jim Brown new for 2021

Under 23 rider Jim Brown from Yorkshire, is the first of the new signings to be revealed for the Canyon dhb SunGod UCI team. Jim joins the squad from French cycling team CC Etupes. Some of Jim’s career highlights include 7th at Gent Wevelgem juniors in 2018, 2nd on stage 1 at Kreiz Breizh Elite and 9th at Tour de l’Avenir on stage 6 in 2019.

Jim did get some racing in 2020, mainly smaller events in France because most of his big races were cancelled. Jim was on the podium a couple of times to keep that feeling of achieving going, one he and his new boss will be hoping to continue to 2021.

Jim talking about signing with Canyon dhb SunGod for 2021, says “I’m super excited to be riding for Canyon dhb SunGod in 2021. I was drawn to the team by their race calendar which is second to none, the friendly and fun atmosphere of the team and also because of the team’s aspirations to help younger riders like me progress into the professional ranks. I can’t wait to get racing some of the biggest races in Europe with some of my good mates!”

Jim comes with plenty of aspirations for 2021. “My eyes are set on the Under 23 spring races (Paris Roubaix and Tryptique des Monts et Châteaux in particular). On paper, these races suit me perfectly and I am now at the level where I can go to these races to win, so that’s the aim.”

Tim Elverson, owner and sports director: “I tried to sign Jim for 2020 but he had already signed for a French team. However my feelings about his potential haven’t changed across the year. I stayed in contact with him throughout this year and signed him very early for 2021. I can’t wait to see him in some big races.” Tim says that he will definitely being looking to provide the best UCI race program he can for his riders. “We have raced more than 50 days in UCI events in both 2018 and 2019 and and still managed 15 this year. So that’s priority whilst also supporting the national A scene in Britain providing it happens in 2021”.
