Team News: CAMS-Tifosi

The biggest news is the signing of Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist Hayley Simmonds who will be joining the experienced team of existing riders. Alongside Hayley Simmonds, other new signings include Kate Wootton who joined as Stagiere in mid-2020, after riding for our feeder team Team Onform for three seasons, and highly-experienced American rider Emma Edwards, who is now living in the UK.

CAMS-Tifosi, like all professional racing teams, has been badly affected by the cancellation of racing throughout the 2020 calendar due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but it has been made easier thanks to the backing of main sponsor CAMS which vowed to stick by the team throughout the crisis.

CAMS-Tifosi is a UCI Continental women’s cycling team with the development of riders at the core of the team ethos. Just two of the riders who started 2020 will not be staying on for another year – both have decided to retire from racing – the remainder of the team line-up remains in place.

The full rider line-up is:

Rebecca Durrell
Hayley Simmonds
Jo Tindley
Megan Barker
Natalie Grinczer
Jess Finney
Katie Scott
Illi Gardner
Gaby Shaw
Clover Murray
Jenny Powell
Emma Edwards
Kate Wootton

Team Principal Simon Howes said: “Obviously 2020 didn’t go to plan for anyone in racing but we’ve tried to make the best of it, and we have kept the team working together and in close communication at all times. We’ve really enjoyed being able to organise some women’s only social rides so fans can meet and ride with the team.

“We are lucky to have been promised the backing of CAMS from the very start of the Coronavirus pandemic so that has enabled us to plan ahead for 2021 and ensure we can attract new riders and keep our great existing riders. “Grace Garner and Charmaine Porter have taken the decision to retire from racing and we thank them both for their time with us.”

CAMS Sales Director Valentina Slater said: “We’re really pleased to be entering a second year with the CAMS-Tifosi women’s cycling team and we are hoping things can get back to normal with the racing next year. “The CAMS sponsorship was signed as a three-year deal in order to create stability and give the team a chance to develop talent and work hard towards racing success. We are excited for what 2021 promises after the disruption of 2020.”

The CAMS-Tifosi team was earlier this year confirmed as having attained UCI Women’s Continental Team status for the 2020 racing season.
