Former World champion in the Pursuit and Madison Genesis DS, Colin Sturgess joins British UCI team Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling for 2021

News: Colin Sturgess DS for Ribble Weldtite

Individual Pursuit world champion in 1989, British National champion on the road in 1990, a Commonwealth Games medallist in 1986 and 1998, Sturgess has a wealth of experience to share from his time as a competitive rider. Colin has however also shown his ability to translate this knowledge into rider success, notably directing Connor Swift to a National Championship victory in 2018 during his tenure at Madison-Genesis.

“I’ve known the guys at Ribble Weldtite for some years now and am delighted to be part of such a progressive team. Their focus on developing their riders and providing a platform to progress is really exciting to me.” Sturgess said. “I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with some really talented riders and help them take steps forward in the sport.”

Team Principal, Tom Timothy added; “I’m delighted to welcome Colin Sturgess as the Sports Director of Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling. Colin brings with him a huge amount of experience, a highly regarded palmarès and a renowned personal man management style. In the next few months and into 2021, more than ever it is pivotal for the team to create and facilitate a real team-focused environment, tackling challenges that arise as a united group. I see Colin playing a crucial role in that.”

Despite a challenging 2020 for obvious reasons, the team continues to go from strength to strength, with a clear vision and the commitment and support of a core group of partners. 2021 is already shaping up to be the team’s most successful to date, both on and off the bike.

Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling have continued to develop year on year and built a sustainable platform for success and progression. The team are continuing at UCI Continental level for 2021.
