News: GB for Paracycling World Cup

World champions Steve Bate and Adam Duggleby are part of the 11-strong squad which will compete between August 8 and 11, with the event providing riders with their final international competition before September’s UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Emmen.

Crystal Lane-Wright and Ben Watson, both of whom won gold in their respective categories at the last round of the world cup series in Ostend, will both be looking to replicate that feat in Canada, while Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall will aim to put a marker down ahead of the world championships – an event from which they brought home two silver medals last year.

Watson said: “I came out of the Belgium round with better results than I expected, as I was slightly injured after the track season. It was really successful though, and that’s set a benchmark for the rest of the season. The squad as a whole has made some massive improvements recently, and it’s a busy time at the moment – everyone’s looking forward to this world cup in Canada, the world championships and then the para-cycling event at Yorkshire 2019.”

Matthew Robertson – who will compete in his debut road world championships in September – is also named in the squad, as are Craig Collis-McCann, David Stone and Fin Graham.

The full Great Britain Cycling Team squad is as follows:
Lora Fachie (piloted by Corrine Hall) – WB
Crystal Lane-Wright – WC5
Steve Bate (piloted by Adam Duggleby) – MB
Matthew Robertson – MC2
Ben Watson – MC3
Fin Graham – MC3
Will Bjergfelt – MC5
Craig Collis-McCann – MT2
David Stone – MT2
