Team News: Team Boompods 2019

The 2018 season has been a strong one for the Yorkshire based team; the highlight being competing at the Asda women’s Tour de Yorkshire where Ellen McDermott sprinted to 18th place on stage one. The team also registered a host of fantastic results across all disciplines taking national and regional titles in the process. None of which would have been possible without our sponsors and their belief in the team.

2019 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the team. With a change of name to Team Boompods, we have retained sponsors from 2018 and also attracted new ones. Boompods are the team’s title sponsor, Swiss wheel maker EDCO are, once again, supplying the team with their Chronosport 45mm wheels, kit is supplied by Velotec, M Green Fabrications are supporting the team with financial resources, world-wide tyre brand Continental are the team’s tyre supplier, NRG cycles will supply the team with helmets, MI supplies are the team’s leisure wear partner, TORQ Fitness UK are the team’s nutrition partner and Manilla PR are the team’s media support.

Team Boompods will race with 13 riders in 2019. The team has refreshed it’s line up, to feature a mix of rider strengths, in order to remain competitive throughout the season. Retaining riders are Sarah Walker, Jenn Batey Haug, Hannah Larbalestier, Amy Graham, Ellen McDermott, Lauren Humphreys, Hannah Farran, Rosie Walsh and Olivia Fawcett. With the addition of; Becky Longthorp, Charlotte Redden, Harriet Dodd and Nikki Metcalfe (who joins the team as co-manager alongside Hannah Farran).

The team have lofty ambitions for the 2019 season. Co-manager Hannah Farran says: “As a team based in Yorkshire it would be an honour to gain entry into the Asda women’s Tour de Yorkshire again, to have the opportunity to race on home roads would be a fantastic opportunity for our riders.

We are also aiming to race the Tour of Scotland (UCI 2.1) and the Tour Series. Alongside those aims, we are also targeting the National women’s road series and the National women’s team series. The 2018 season has been on a strong one and we are currently working hard, both on and off the bike, to progress the team even further in 2019.”
