Grand Tour stage winner Primoz Roglic will return to the Tour of Britain with Team LottoNL-Jumbo this September, a month after he finished fourth in the Tour de France

The Dutch squad claimed the overall victory in last year’s race with Lars Boom, and their six-rider team for the 2018 edition of the UK’s most prestigious men’s stage race once again offers strength in depth. Slovenian Roglic headlines their line-up; the 28-year-old has already won over 20 professional races in his short professional cycling career, including overall honours at the Tours of Romandy and the Basque Country in 2018.

He has won stages in the Tour de France in both 2017 and 2018, and narrowly missed out on a podium finish in this year’s race. Two of the three riders who finished above him – Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome – are also confirmed to ride the Tour of Britain.

Also selected for Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s roster are Giro d’Italia stage winner Jos van Emden, who finished eighth in the European Championships time trial in Glasgow earlier this month, Critérium du Dauphiné stage winner Koen Bouwman and experienced domestique Maarten Wynants. Pascal Eenkhoorn, who won a stage of the Colorado Classic stage race in Denver last week, and one-day specialist Gijs van Hoecke have also been named on the team’s provisional roster.

The 2018 Tour of Britain will feature the strongest ever line-up in race history, with reigning Tour de France and Giro d’Italia champions Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome competing for Team Sky. Lotto Soudal’s André Greipel – a five-time stage winner – will also return to the eight-day event. Also confirmed are Team KATUSHA ALPECIN’s Marcel Kittel and Alex Dowsett – both of whom, like Greipel, are former stage winners and race leaders in the Tour.

The Tour of Britain takes place between Sunday 2 and Sunday 9 September
