The second of the TLI Cycling National Championships is this weekend near Wexham for the older categories in the Age Related racing. The events for C, D, E, F, G & H Categories are to be held this Sunday, August 19th, on the Holt Circuit near Wrexham in North Wales.
In TLI Cycling category terms this means males over 50 years of age and females over 30. These championships were also structured to be open to female juniors but unfortunately no entries for this category were received. One again organised by prolific promoter Graham Weigh and his team of helpers under the rules and regulations of TLI Cycling, the event kicks off at 10.00am. The event HQ is Isycoed Village Hall.
The races are over a distance of 70 miles for the younger categories and 60 miles for the others with the finish on Sandy Lane, Wrexham, just off the roundabout at Llan-y-pwll on the A534 Wrexham Road.
Race HQ is at Isycoed Village Hall (LL13 9RN).
1st race starts [C] at 10 am then 10 minutes later the [D] then at 5 minutes the golden oldies. Many ex-pro’s, National champions, Commonwealth Games riders and just plain internationals are entered.
C [45-49], D[50-55] both 70 miles [7 laps of holt circuit]
E/F/G [60-75] 60 miles [ 6 laps ]
After travellers invaded the original finish, a new finish was found offering a sting in the tail of this otherwise flattish circuit which always offers fast racing. Full fields of 40 riders per event are entered.
