HQ: Edmundbyers YHA, Low House, Edmundbyers, Consett, DH8 9NL

Winner in 2017, Tom Stewart on the start list for the 2018 Edition after doing a stage race in Canada last week. Ian Bibby (second in 2017) is also on the start list as a teammate to Stewart whilst third placed Karol Domagalski is not on the provisional entry for 2018.

THE STAGES

WOMEN

Stage 1


Neutralised to private road over Derwent Reservoir dam wall and the first passage of the finish line, exiting the Reservoir grounds at the other side. Race starts shortly after rejoining the B6278 near Redwall Hall Farm.

Left onto unclassified road (Prime* at the top of Carterway Heads on lap 2 and 3) and left onto A68. Slip left to Barleyhill and West Ministeracres, along the north side of Derwent reservoir to left turn at Carrick Corner and Pow Burn (Feed Zone) and head back towards Edmundbyers and the finish line to complete one more lap. After crossing the finish line for the third time, follow the same route to Edmundbyers to turn right.

Continue on B6278 (Primé) Turn right onto Meadows Edge and Bale Hill. Turn right at bottom of descent and right again onto B3606 and back towards Edmundbyers. Follow the road through Edmundbyers to the finish line to commence the last lap. Complete one more lap of the Reservoir circuit. On approaching the finish, do not turn into the Reservoir grounds as on previous laps. Instead continue on over Eddis Bridge and approach the finish uphill.

Stage 2


Neutralised to private road over Derwent Reservoir dam wall and the first passage of the finish line, exiting the Reservoir grounds at the other side. Race starts shortly after rejoining the B6278 near Redwall Hall Farm.

Left onto unclassified road (Prime* at the top of Carterway Heads on lap 2) along the A68, Slip left to Barleyhill and West Ministeracres, along the north side of Derwent reservoir to left turn at Carrick Corner and Pow Burn (Feed Zone) and head back towards Edmundbyers and the finish line to complete one lap. After 1.75 laps the route will turn right at Carrick Corner to head towards Blanchland.

Turn left before Blanchland and left at the T junction with Bale Hill, continuing along onto Meadows Edge (Prime at Horseshoe Hill) to turn left onto the B6278, direction Edmundbyers. On entry to Edmundbyers, turn left up Church Lane and back towards Blanchland to commence a second lap. On entering Edmundbyers again, head back towards Derwent Reservoir and the Finish line to commence 1.75 laps of the Reservoir course.

At the end of the second lap, do not turn into the Reservoir grounds as on previous laps. Instead continue on over Eddis Bridge and approach the finish uphill.

MEN
Stage 1

Neutralised to private road over Derwent Reservoir dam wall and the first passage of the finish line, exiting the Reservoir grounds at the other side. Race starts shortly after rejoining the B6278 near Redwall Hall Farm. Left onto unclassified road (Prime at the top of Carterway Heads) along the A68, Barleyhill, along the north side of Derwent reservoir to Carrick Corner and Pow Burn (Feed Zone) before the descent back into Edmundbyers.

After 1.75 laps turn right at Carrick Corner to head towards Blanchland. Turn left at the T junction before Blanchland and left again onto Bale Hill, continuing along onto Meadows Edge (Prime at Horseshoe Hill) to turn left onto the B6278, direction Edmundbyers.

On entry to Edmundbyers turn left onto Church lane and left again onto the B6306 direction Blanchland. Continue along the B6306 to turn left at Bank Top House to complete a further two laps.On re entering Edmundbyers a fifth time, follow the road through to the finish line to commence 1.75 laps of the Reservoir course.

At the end of the second lap, do not turn into the Reservoir grounds as on previous laps. Instead continue on over Eddis Bridge and approach the finish uphill.
