The story behind an ambitious new team race team called Crimson Performance Race Team with kit by Bioracer sponsored by Brother UK
Crimson Performance co-founder Matt Hallam, has set his sights high with the launch of the new website crimsonperformance.com, which teaches cyclists how to make better use of their power meters and the formation of an ambitious new race team.
“Power meters are now one of the most popular cycling accessories. Despite this growing popularity, many cyclists still fail to use them to their full potential. Crimson Performance was developed to allow cyclists to maximise the use of their power meter in the simplest, most time-efficient way” explains Matt Hallam. A power meter is one of the most powerful tools to a cyclist (excuse the pun), providing the rider or coach knows how to use it.” … continued after advert
“Crimson Performance offers an online platform to do the hard work for you. It provides a simple, do-it-yourself performance test that is evidence-based and quantifies all your performance physiology metrics. All you need is a power meter and it can all be done in as little as one simple training session. The test quantifies your maximum aerobic power, your sprinting ability and your anaerobic capabilities”.
“In addition, it profiles your current strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to see where your test data ranks against different standards. The platform also provides you with training zones to optimise your time spent training, which is especially important for those who are time-poor. Both individual and team subscription packages are available, making the platform suitable for riders of any ability. Crimsonperformance.com is due to be live by the end of February 2018.”
The team is one of eight in Britain to get funding from Brother UK who are also a very important partner for VeloUK
In parallel to the new website, a race team with a unique twist is also being launched. “The idea of creating a race team was always a big goal for us, we wanted to support local North West racing talent as well as showcase the Crimson Performance platform at the highest level in domestic UK racing. We set out recruiting the riders back in 2017 and had a clear vision of the team we wanted to build.
First and foremost, riders with a team-focused mentality to racing. Secondly, a professional attitude to training and finally, access to a power meter. We are realistic with the goals of the team in our first year, we want the riders to have fun racing in a supportive and social team environment, picking up results along the way would be great too. We have a group of riders that are super motivated to start racing, they are all pulling in the same direction, racing and training as one team. They are also excited to be representing a core group of sponsors. The team is fully charged for a breakthrough 2018 of racing. We are looking forward to seeing what the year ahead brings for everyone involved” Matt Hallam.

The team consists of an elite squad of 6 top local amateur riders, alongside a smaller development squad of 3 riders. The team has a melting pot of different talent from track riders, criterium specialists, hill climbers and time-trialists. The team has a wide age range too, but over half the squad are u23.
“All the team riders have access to the Crimson Performance platform and have been supported with personalised training plans and pre-season performance testing. Our approach to racing is to play into the collective strengths of the team. The Crimson Performance platform will allow us to track and monitor riders conditioning throughout the season. This will provide us with a detailed plan of attack for each of the key races we target. Our budget may not be as large as some of the bigger players but our evidence-based approach to training and racing is the secret weapon that we have at our disposal. We like being the under-dogs, it suits us for the time being” Matt Hallam.
The team is focused on achieving results in National B races, the northern rounds of the 2018 Tour Series, the Elite Circuit Series and select Premier Calendars. The team’s first official race will be the Eddie Soens Memorial RR on the 10th of March.
“2018 is a year for the team to establish itself on the British domestic racing scene. We simply couldn’t do it without the support of the sponsors involved. We are thrilled to have a group of sponsors that have a shared passion for cycling and racing. Although this season hasn’t yet started we are already thinking ahead to 2019, we want to see the team grow year by year. Aligning the team with businesses that share the same vision is extremely important for us” Matt Hallam.
“Orientation Marketing Ltd are really excited to be involved with Crimson Performance Race Team as the team’s title sponsor. We are impressed by the team’s ambition and vision, and when speaking with Matt about the opportunity it was immediately apparent we were a great fit for each other. Crimson Performance Race Team are a team looking to grow and outperform bigger teams based on their attitude and ability, which are qualities we share at Orientation Marketing.
