Team News: Storey Sport Completes Team for 2018
Rebecca Durrell is the 12th and final rider to confirm her membership of Storey Racing for 2018 and in doing so completes a well-rounded squad with her aggressive style, fast finish and will fit in well to a team who, like Rebecca, have never been afraid to take a race on.
Having spent the last 2 years with Drops Cycling team, 2017 was another superb year for Rebecca with notable performances across a range of races. Her lengthy solo breakaway at the Lincoln GP was one of the most gutsy performances in the National Series, whilst securing Individual victory at Tour Series cemented her as a sprint force to be reckoned with on a range of tight and technical circuits.
At World Tour level Rebecca impressed with top 20 results in the Women’s Tour where she played a key role in supporting her team leader who finished 6th overall. To round off a successful season she then added a top 20 finish at the Madrid Challenge.
Speaking of her decision to join Storey Racing Rebecca said; “The strength and depth of the team, both riders and staff, was a huge draw. I feel ready to take new opportunities and continue developing as a rider in a supportive yet ambitious environment.”
“Sarah and Barney are goldmines of knowledge and the team is made up of a great group of people, so all in all I feel it’s going to be an enjoyable and successful season!”

Although she has been improving at a fast rate over the past two years, Rebecca is motivated to continue to work on all areas and said; “Over the winter period I’m working hard on improving elements of fitness such as aerobic endurance whilst also working on improving my strengths such as sprinting. I like to take a science based approach to this, which the team has already been hugely supportive towards.”
Rebecca’s breadth of talent adds strength to a team that already has plentiful skill base and it will be exciting to see her team up with the likes of EJay Harris, Emily Nelson, Neah Evans and Monica Dew in the criteriums which is a discipline she revels in, saying; “Circuit races are a favourite of mine, I enjoy the pressure, speed and kicks of adrenaline that this style of racing gives you.”
Additionally her experience in longer World Tour events will make her a valuable card to play in a variety of other races and given Lincoln GP is a local race for Rebecca the team will be motivated to see if they can elevate her back to the podium after she took 2nd place there in 2016.
“You probably wouldn’t catch me saying this at the finish line, but I also love the tough, long road races which at times leave you wishing you’d stayed at home on the sofa. They are strangely satisfying!” Rebecca commented about her other favourite type of race.

Sports Director Barney Storey spoke of his delight at finalising the last place on the team roster saying; “The addition of Rebecca to the team for 2018 creates very exciting opportunities for everyone involved. As a unit the team thrives off having a range of riders with the ability to perform in a variety of different styles of race and Rebecca adds another very strong option to team tactics. She is cool, calm and collected in pressure situations which further fits with the way we like to operate.”
“Her results this year have again been very impressive and her work ethic is impeccable. I have been very impressed by the approach she is taking to continuing to learn and improve, it’s always a pleasure to work with riders who refuse to rest on their laurels and are constantly looking for new ways to make performance gains.”
“It will be exciting to watch Rebecca line up alongside our returning riders for Tour Series, but also see her working alongside new recruits such as climbing specialists Joss Lowden and Anna Kay. Whether she is playing a domestique or lead role, I have no doubt that Rebecca will be a huge asset to the team and we are excited to be part of her continued development in the sport.”
The finalised team roster for Storey Racing in 2018 is:
Beth Crumpton
Monica Dew
Hannah Dines
Rebecca Durrell
Neah Evans
EJay Harris
Ffion James
Anna Kay
Joscelin Lowden
Chanel Mason
