Report: Brooks Cycles Track League

It was a beautiful sunny evening at the latest round of the Brooks Cycles Track League at the Lyme Valley Velodrome, Newcastle under Lyme, Staffs on Thursday 18th August. The fine weather and with some young riders returning from holidays there was a good turnout of riders in the Freewheelers League. The top point’s scorers in each group were as follows;

Group 1 Thomas Wheaver Lyme RC 9 points
Group 2 Harry Clewlow Lyme RC 9 Points
Group 3 Charlie Clewlow 11 Points

In the main league Farley Barber ( Lyme RC ) dominated the endurance races winning the 8 lap scratch, devil unknown distance and the final 10 mile scratch for B riders. This form has propelled him up the league and he now threatens B Class league leader Alex Coates ( Lyme RC) who had a good night taking three second places.

In the sprinters league races the main event was the Keiren Final where national Masetsr sprint Champion Phil Houlton ( Brooks Cycles ) won with teammate Josh Spendelow close behind as he made a late rush for the line.

In the youth races Joel Ackers ( Sportcity Velo won all four events as he strengthened his lead in the overall table.
