A record crowd and a bumper field greeted the 4th running of the Ludgate Finance Queen Victoria Cyclocross at Blists Hill Victorian Town in the Ironbridge Gorge
Report: Ludgate Finance Queen Victoria Cyclocross
Cyclo Cross is an off road version of the sport and the riders’ skills were tested to the full as they traversed perilous descents and lung bursting climbs as they made their way round the grounds of the museum.
The race this year was further enhanced by the presence of television cameras as the Bike Channel was on hand to record every exciting thrill of the night.
In the youth race it was Toby Barnes of the Lichfield who came home just in front of his younger brother Daniel, whilst in the veteran’s event ex National Champion Ian Wright prevailed. And finally in the senior and Junior event it was last year’s winner Ben Wady riding for Clee Cycles who showed the field a clean pair of wheels.
The event continues to grow from year to year as the organisers, Nick and Diane Jeggo, together with Blists Hill attempt to highlight both the sport and the museum. Judging by Saturday night: they are going in the right direction!
