1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Ben: I am starting my road race season early March this year aiming for early points to get the season under way. First race is a crit race up in Milton Keynes followed by the National B Spring Chicken road race the weekend after.

2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Ben: My main target for 2016 is to really make my mark within the UK and get some road race good result improving on 2015. My main target for the year will be to get some good results in the National B road and crit races as well as hopefully racing abroad.

3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Ben: Between now and the start of the season my training will be a mix of both endurance base work as well as speed training. I’m also a fan of getting in the gym and working on leg strength once or twice a week.

4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Ben: A remote control helicopter with a camera on the front so I can fly it downstairs in the morning and see when breakfast is ready. Yet to master this concept as of yet though…

5. When it rains, which it’s doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Ben: I have to say, I’m one of the few people who actually enjoy going on the turbo especially when it’s raining. Whether it’s an easy turbo session or hard efforts you can make the sessions really specific and I like that.

6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Ben: Hard to choose but I would have to say the World road race championships. Being able to compete for your country against the best riders in the world in a race that is over 200km’s just amazes me.

7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Ben: I’m always carrying nuts around with me so I’d have to go with cashew nuts or if I’m feeling really spontaneous, maybe some walnuts.

8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Ben: I do love my indie chillout music – Ben Howard always gets me in zone.

9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Ben: I’ve never actually ridden disc brakes so I can’t really comment. I think it is the way forward to improving bike performance but they ruin the beauty of a bike.

10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
Ben: For the 2016 season I am using a Specialized Venge with mechanical Ultegra however this is soon be changed to Ultegra Di2. I’m also running Roval Rapide CLX 60 wheels which are super fast and look the part. I’m trying to persuade Tony (Gibb) to give me the new Trek Madone 9.9 however I think the season will be finished before he even ponders on this idea…
