Team WNT rider Bex Rimmington who’s already raced in 2016 (keen LoL) takes the VeloUK question and answer challenge
Feature – Bex Rimmington Q & A
1. When will you start your road season and what will be the first race?
Bex: Well, I did a New Years Day time trial if that counts! Hopefully the first race will be the Clayton Spring Classic – it is a local race to us and my boyfriend (Si Wilson) is a previous winner so always good to get out and support the local clubs, however this year it would be nice to have good conditions so there are no hypothermic incidents!
2. What races will be your targets for 2016 and why?
Bex: We have a European calendar planned for 2016 so definitely some of the races out there as well as the National Series in the UK.
3. How will you spend the time on the bike between now and your first race in training?
Bex: Working full time and being at college as well means early starts or evenings on the turbo so I suppose that’s more intense then I get to head out on the road at the weekend to get the miles in.
4. What was your favourite Xmas present?
Bex: Hmmmm that’s a tough one – but I think constructing the fire engine for our cat Morris on Christmas Day provided the most entertainment!
5. When it rains, which its doing a lot right now, is it turbo time or wrap up and get wet?
Bex: It rains most of the time in Lancashire so as long as you dress for the elements then definitely head out onto the road. I recently got stuck on a ride after the rivers burst on either side of me and I ended up having to scramble into the back of a van to get home!
6. If you could do any race in the world including the best ones in the world etc, what would it be and why?
Bex: Women’s WorldTour series – that covers a lot of the best races under one heading then.
7. What piece of food can you not do without where ever you are on the road during the season!
Bex: Bananas and orange OTE energy drink.
8. What is your favourite music track when warming up for a race or on the turbo?
Bex: Calvin Harris album or the radio for a bit of variety when training on the turbo.
9. If given the option, would you prefer normal brakes or disc brakes on your road bike?
Bex: For the time being normal brakes, but with the team being sponsored by Hope, if they ever move to disc brakes in the future, then I know that we will get some good quality products.
10. What’s the spec of your race bike for 2016 and your favourite bits on it?
Bex: Waiting to see the new team bike but the team is sponsored by Specialized with Hope wheels and Rotor cranks – really excited to race pick up the bike!
