A team that have made a big splash in 2015 is Pedal Heaven who in road races and crits up and down the country, have taken the racing to the bigger UCI teams and got themselves well and truly noticed. Many a rider has made a name for themselves as well and one of those is Alex Paton (pictured below).

He had a good year in 2014 and has continued to press on in 2015 on his Specialized Tarmac Pro. In his last race, Alex put the cat amongst the pigeons and made the rest uneasy with an attack 1.5 kilometres to go.

“I took a big gamble and tried an attack” he says on the Pedal Heaven website. “The gap I established was very slight, but if I could hold on, it would be a big result. As it happens there were enough people able to chase and soon enough I was back and riders were flying pass me with about 500m to go.”

It wasn’t to be for Alex and his team but I fully expect his team to be even more competitive in 2016.

As for the bikes, they match the teams colours and whilst the budget of the team is far short of the bigger UCI teams in 2015, you can’t fault the professional way the bikes all match the team kit. Each race they turn up in well turned out cars and van, awning goes up and riders have a pre-race massage before pinning the numbers on and the pre-race talk from Tim Elverson. Everyone in the team mucks in from team owner Craig Peter to the mechanics and swannies and DS Tim before the riders then do the same on their bikes in the race.

Here’s a look at Alex Paton’s steed for the GP Wales looking in good nick after a long season on the road!
