The opening round of the new Revolution Series this weekend (24-25 October) will see some rivalries from the road taken onto the track with Team Sky verses Orica-GreenEDGE and Laura Trott verses Marianne Vos playing out in the iconic Lee Valley VeloPark in London.
Marianne Vos, the best female cyclist ever heading to London
Newly crowned European Track Champion and Double Olympic Track Champion, Laura Trott headlines a stellar line up alongside Olympic Road Champion Marianne Vos, setting up a tantalising contest between the two leading female cyclists in the world at the moment. What makes the match up more interesting is that the clash will take place on Trott’s preferred surface as the riders swap the tarmac for the wooden boards for the first time.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back onto the track in London and kick starting my season, hopefully with a win in front of a home crowd†commented Trott. “It’ll be interesting to test myself against someone as talented as Marianne Vos, although I’m hoping to have the edge on the track even though I’m sure she’ll push me all the way.â€
Aiming to spoil the party for the two Olympic Champions will be in form British riders Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker, who both also triumphed at the European Track Championships. The riders will be joining an international field in an Omnium contest with crucial UCI points available ahead of the start of the World Cup season.
In the men’s racing, leading British teams including Team Sky, Rapha Condor JLT, NFTO and Madison-Genesis, will pit themselves against Australian cycling powerhouse Orica-GreenEDGE. The all-star line-up includes British riders such as Ben Swift, Ian Stannard, Ed Clancy, Adam Blythe, and Alex Dowsett, alongside a selection of top international cyclists, including Dutchman, Jens Mouris, Australian track specialist, Scott Sunderland, former Madison World Champion, Kenny de Ketele, and six day specialists Christian Grasmann and Marcel Kalz.
Adam Blythe, winner of RideLondon and Ben Swift, also heading to London.
Other highlights of the packed race programme include the British Cycling National Madison Championships (Friday evening) and a special version of the Marymoor Crawl (Saturday afternoon) – a unique race which opens with a gruelling track stand contest before riders sprint for victory over a single lap!
For full details on the race programme including a video of the Marymoor Crawl visit www.cyclingrevolution.com.
Tickets for Round One of the Revolution Series start from £15 and are available via the website or by calling See Tickets on 0844 412 4650.
