The cycling scene in Pendle continues to flourish with the recently completed Steven Burke Sports Hub and the announcement of criterium racing for all youth and senior categories on Saturday 20th of September.

The 1.1km circuit was completed in June and local clubs are using the circuit for coaching and go-ride sessions. The venue is Flood lit with changing and shower facilities including a club room for Cycle Sport Pendle (CSP). The circuit is within easy reach for both North West and Yorkshire riders and situated on the county boarder of Lancashire and Yorkshire just off the M65 motorway.

Club spokesman Peter Boast said “promoting the race on the 20th will give us the opportunity to test the circuit in readiness for the 2015 season. There has already been youth racing with round 4 of the NW youth league opening the facility during the Tour De France build up but this will be a first for senior men and women. We are especially keen to see our Yorkshire neighbours get involved either promoting or racing as the circuit is in easy reach of a big cycling fraternity in Keighley, Bradford and skipton areas.”

“The circuit races very well, not to technical and with two long straights to string it out, we think it’s a first in that part of the circuit forms the exact footprint of a 250M velodrome, pan flat with some slight camber but it’s already paying dividends from a coaching perspective, there are three cut troughs meaning club coaches can have separate groups around the circuit”
