News – The Ripon Tour Sportive July 13
Starting in Ripon on the 13th July it cut’s out the Leeds part of the day one route and joins to the North at Threshfield. The route takes in most of the Tour route and hits all of the climbs. At 104 miles and 8,842ft of climbing it’s up there with the more challenging Sportives.

We depart Ripon race course, ride through the City and head out towards Pateley Bridge. On the way we have special permission to ride through the grounds of Studly Park and then onto the amazing Brimham Rocks. It’s the most stunning start to any of Velo29 Sportives and some great roads most of us will certainly not have ridden on before.

From there the route climbs to Greenhow Hill, it’s a long and in place steep drag, this is an additional climb we’ve thrown in and not part of the TDF route. A fast decent and we pick up the day 1 route near Threshfield. Onto the KOM at Kidstones then over the now famous Buttertubs Pass, still fresh with the memories of the previous week, and of course the paintings on the road! Onto “Cote de Grinton” then it’s downhill all the way to Masham and the finish at Ripon Race course.

There is also a short route at 44 miles for those wanting to enjoy the Tour buzz but looking for less of a challenging ride. There is still a nice challenge in the climb to Loft House and some great scenery, especially around Nidderdale Reservoir and the descent towards Masham.

Entries are open until midnight on Sunday 6th July and full details at www.ripontoursportive.co.uk

Enjoy the Tour buzz for one more week and be part of the first event allowed on the Tour Route after the Grand Depart! The atmosphere will be great amongst the riders and everyone will have a story to tell of the previous week as we ride along the Tour de France route on our own Yorkshire roads.
