This year only three riders broke the 20 mph barrier while 2nd and 3rd was a reversal of last year’s 1-2, with Paul Jones edging out Derek Smetham in what proved to be a battle for the minor places.

It proved to be the perfect course for the National Hill Climb Champion. Tejvan Pettinger turned in a staggeringly quick ride, smashing the course record into tiny pieces. Gillian Pears was fastest lady, with Simon Snowden and Steve Cottington taking the Vets prizes. The road bike prizes were hotly contested, with a meagre 31 seconds separating the top 3. Alistair Barnard edged out the battle of the non-bongo, with Alec Baskaya and Richard Spink chasing all the way. VC Walcot took home the team prize.
