Apres Wacky Races Spring Series

Jonny Blackman took the sprint on Sunday to win the first of the Apres Wacky Races Spring Series here at Preston Park Brighton, out sprinting London Dynamos Jeremy Broughman.

A mid race split saw the two slip away and not get caught by a disorganised pack. In the 3rds a good day for the locals with an early brake of Brighton On The Rivets Carl Farrel, Brighton Mitres Rob Fuller, Cycleworks Jack Noy and Dulwichs Sam Evans getting away after some early tussles and lapping the field.

Carl Farrel took the sprint from Sam Evans a couple of lengths clear. Jack Noy 3rd and Rob Fuller 4th. A clean sweep for Blazing Saddles in the 4ths! Turning up mob handed and executing a plan sure was a recipe for success with the club taking a 1st 2nd and 3rd with Christian Faires,Tim Warner and Howard Bayley respectively making it hard from the off and sticking with it till it split. Working well together they gained a lap, then sprinted out between them. Nice..

A good race in the U12/14/16 saw GYCCs Patrick Manning take the honours from WyndyMillas Chris Jenkinson. Good to see more here in the U8/10 race too with CC Ashwell Joseph Hadsley winning from Arctic Tacx Lucas Barclay.

VENUE: Preston Park Cycling Track is situated in the northeast corner of Preston Park. Access is from Preston Drove, close to junction with Preston Park Avenue. For satnav use postcode BN1 6LA. Parking is available at the north entrance and along Preston Park Avenue, toilets, dry changing and refreshments are available in the pavilion. There is a covered grandstand from which to view the action and all that Preston Park has to offer. Bring the family!
