Legendary cyclist Graeme Obree heads up the special guests on day. Nicknamed The Flying Scotsman, Scottish racing cyclist Obree twice broke the world hour record, in July 1993 and April 1994, and was crowned Individual Pursuit World Champion in 1993 and 1995.

Obree’s most recent cycling record with the Beastie will also be on display for enthusiasts to marvel over. Spectators will get the chance to ask Graeme questions, with an open Q&A session, and get their photo taken with the famous Beastie bike.

The show also brings together other special guests, namely National Time Trial record holder and Cycling Weekly writer Michael Hutchinson and cycling author Rick Robson.

Held at The Forum in Norwich on Sunday 6 April, The Norfolk Cycle Show is in it’s second year, after a successful and well attended launch last February which included a special guest appearance from former Team Sky Director Sportif Sean Yates.

With no admission charge the event is designed to attract cyclists from complete beginners to serious enthusiasts and celebrate everything on two wheels. Organiser Luke Rumbelow of Revolution Events explains how it was important to evolve the event with the aim of getting more involved in cycling whilst at the same time, giving back to the community

“After the success of last year, we wanted to make this year even bigger and better. We have a great line-up of special guests, activities going on throughout the day and this year we are raising funds for NANSA (Norfolk & Norwich Scope Association) and Ronald McDonald House Charities.”

A special Family Charity Ride will take place on the day around Chapelfield Gardens. At just £2 each entry, riders will be able to choose their mode of transport from quirky four-man carts to tandems and MTB’s.

“Our aim is to get more families cycling so we organised this charity ride which is perfect for beginners and families wanting to get active and enjoy cycling in the city.” Luke added. One lucky ticket will be auctioned off for an exclusive Tandem bike ride with Graeme Obree riding the route.

“It really is an opportunity for beginners to pro cyclists, as well as families to embrace all that is good with cycling in Norfolk. Cycling is for everyone and we want to make it as accessible as possible”

The list of activities doesn’t end there – local scout groups, artists and charities will be entering bikes donated to them into the “Bling my Bike” competition, showcasing their best efforts in creative bike modifications, with more bling the better! Contestants will be given eight weeks in which to customise and theme their bike, and try to win over head judge Graeme Obree.

A full timetable will be given out to all those that visit on the day.
