British stars of the cyclo-cross world head for Southampton and the second round of the National Trophy on Sunday (Nov 3)

In the Senior men, the riders at the top of the result sheet at round 1 in Abergavenny are all entered. Series leader Paul Oldham (Hope Factory) who had a winning Rapha Super Cross series will be up against the likes of Oli Beckingsale (EnduraMTB) and Tom Van Den Bosch (Hargroves Cycles) who were on the podium in round 1.

A rider who knows what its like to lead and win the National Trophy, Endura’s Oli Beckingsale will be looking to get the better of an inform Paul Oldham in Southampton.

Dave Collins, who was 4th in that first round, is entered as is the evergreen Nick Craig of Scott UK and former British champion Jody Crawforth (Hargroves Cycles). Bart Hoffman of Belgium though may have something to say about who the winner is as may Thijs Al, just a few of the entries from abroad.

In the Under 23 Series, Adam Martin will be looking to keep his jersey against some formidable opposition including Ben Sumner, Andy & Matt Hargroves plus Steven James all from Hargroves Cycles and Hugo Robinson. In the Women’s race, no entry from round 1 winner Isla Rowntree but second in Abergavenny, Hannah Payton, is on the start list. So is Annie Simpson who was third in round 1 and then had a great Rapha Supercross series.

Other names to look out for at the sharp end of the race is Junior Jessica Wilkinson (Birkenhead North End CC)  along with Spanish rider Merce Pacios Pujadó who was 4th in Abergavenny. The veterans 40-49 series leader Ian Taylor is down to ride in what is yet again a very competitive category whilst in the over 50’s, Hargroves Cycles rider Steven Davies is favourite.

Winner in round 1 and a name that has been around ages despite being so young, Charlotte Broughton leads the Under 16 girls series whilst yet another highly ranked rider from the Hargroves Cycles stable, Daniel Tulett, will wear the leaders jersey for Under 16 Boys. In the Junior Men, yet another winner from round 1, Jake Poole, is entered ready to battle to keep the leader’s jersey in a field of 20 riders.
