After the Garmin team won the Team Time Trial on stage 2 of the Tour of Qatar, Tyler Farrar has moved up to be on the same time as the Belgian leader, Tom Boonen who holds onto the jersey by three hundreths of a second.

Garmin Barracuda wins team time trial
Over a short distance of 11 kilometres but on a technical course, the American team Garmin Barracuda were seven seconds faster than the Quickstep team of Tom Boonen but not quite fast enough to dislodge the former World Champion from the leaders jersey. The Garmin team, which included Thomas Dekker completed the 11.3-kilometre course around Lusail in 12’38. Quickstep were second and Sky third at nine seconds.
“Overall I’m happy with our guys’ race ,” said Quickstep Sports Director Wilfried Peeters. “At the intermediate we had the same time as team Garmin but we made a minor error on a right hand bend which cost us a few seconds. In general anyway, the guys are in good shape. In the next stages it’s going to be important to control the race well with the help of the other teams gunning for the general classification and try to win another stage. We’ll see how it goes day by day.”
