News: TMG Horizon Racing Team

The Anders Electronics TMG Horizon Racing Team are organising a Road Race for the first time in 2011. “It’s important that we do our bit to support a sport which we enjoy so much,” comments Nick Walker, team DS. “Cycle Racing is enjoying a renaissance in the UK in recent years as success for British Riders on the Track leads to growing interest in the core discipline of the sport – Road Racing.”

Walker continues:”We would all like to see more of the continental style of racing in the UK and this begins with more fixtures to satisfy the demand created by the recent influx of new riders.”

The race heralds a return to action for the Cublington Circuit in Buckinghamshire, just north of Aylesbury. Organiser Neil Wass comments: “It’s great to get this course back. Most of us have raced on it in the past. It’s a tough one. You’ve got a nasty prevailing headwind on the ridge towards Whitchurch which often causes splits, and the finishing hill up to Cublington should ensure that only the strongest riders get to the front.”

Team Supporters Science In Sport are offering up bonus prizes for a points competition within the race and the team have produced a special trophy for this event in Venetian Glass: “Our goal is to support the sport and establish this new fixture long into the future,” concludes Wass.

Local Pub The Unicorn in Cublington will be offering refreshments near the finishing line and a special race day menu for depleted riders.

Run under the rules & regulations of British Cycling, the event will be a Regional A event for 2nd, 3rd and 4th Category riders.
