Southport-based cyclist Pete Williams continued his recuperation from a horrific road accident in Majorca last month by finishing second at the Sheffrec CC Spring Road Race at the weekend in Yorkshire.
The Motorpoint Pro-Cycling rider was involved in a serious collision with a car while training in the Balearics with the Sky Velo Team, which required him to be hospitalised. However, less than four weeks after the crash, the 24 year-old is back in the saddle and training hard for the forthcoming Tour Doon Hame in Scotland at the end of April.
Says Pete: “Last weekend’s race at Old Hutton was the killer. I had only got back on the bike four days before and it’s difficult course at the best of times. Then I was at the Sheffrec this weekend and came second. I feel I should have won it but you always feel that way when you’re in one of the big teams like Motorpoint.â€
“I’m having an operation on my nose which might set me back a little bit, but it’ll be worth it. I’ll be going to race in Scotland with the team for the first time at the end of this month and I can’t wait. It’ll be great to race in a team again and I should be back to full strength in time for the Halfords Tour Series in May.â€
