Winner of the RTTC 10 Championship was Richard Bussell a mere five seconds ahead of Matt Clinton with Matt Bottrill only 4 seconds further back in 3rd.

Winner of the RTTC 10 Championship was Richard Bussell (RST Sport/Aero-Coach) a mere five seconds ahead of Matt Clinton (Mike Vaughan Cycles) with Matt Bottrill (Drag2Zero) only 4 seconds further back in 3rd.

The course was as straight forward as they come, out and back with a tricky roundabout at the far end of the course. No hills but some sticky drags and dead roads made this course a tough one and that’s reflected in there only being four riders under 20 minutes.

The conditions all afternoon were wet; wetter for the majority of the riders as the rain eased a little for the favourites. That would not have influenced the result however where even the winner was surprised at his victory.

The 26 year old, who has only been time trialling for a year, has been there or thereabouts in other time trials so seeing the winner in contention was no surprise according to those who have raced against Richard.

But seeing Richard Bussell, who enjoys road racing as well, beat riders who over and over are at the top of result sheets in championships was a surprise especially as it wasn’t an event he had targeted or trained for.

One rider who wasn’t in the result was 25 champion Ryan Perry (Langdale Lightweights) who was on a good day but lost his chain on the roundabout and with it jammed, his race was over.

Third placed rider Matt Bottrill has the world amateur Time trial championships next week in Denmark to aim for whilst Matt Clinton is looking forward to the Circuit Race champs and then the Hill Climb championships.
