Champion System/Maxgear/Kyklos racing team reveal team at lavish launch at the beautiful Matfen Hall in Northumberland.
With the rest of country shutting down due to the snow and bad weather, that didn’t stop the Champion System/Maxgear/Kyklos racing team from staging their lavish team launch at the beautiful Matfen Hall in Northumberland. With the team, sponsors, families, friends and guests enjoying the Matfen Grand Hall with it’s magnificent architecture and fantastic food, the snow began to fall and instead of ruining the event, added to the atmosphere of the pictures and ride out.
With the perfect balance of architectural craftsmanship and the state of the art bicycle technology on show, the audience were presented with the teams’ vision, targets and philosophy.
In attendance were sponsors Champion System whose warm clothing proved valuable on the team ride out into the very cold snowy conditions, Verolli distribution with the Kyklos FW plus framesets and Swiss wheel building experts Edco, Moore & Large with their 4za components, kmc chains, jagwire cables, Lake shoes, Limar helmets and Kenda tyres.
Yoursportsfuel.com are powering the team with their race and recovery fuels and also providing nutrition advise and race fueling plans. And last but no means least Maxgear who have provided equipment, sunglasses, luggage and above all, the team management.
During the event, Professional photographer John Picton captured every moment and during the very snowy team ride managed to show just how extreme the ride was underlining the teams enthusiasm and commitment… true northern grit. With the Team presentation being led by Team Director Wayne Greenhalgh, it was underlined that with an emphasis on the junior squad and it’s star riders of Carthy, Hall, Lawless, Latham, and Ragan, the team isn’t just about results.
“The environment gives the riders an insight into what’s required by a professional cyclist in the modern world of sponsorship, social media and marketing. Being a great athlete isn’t just about being a winner anymore” added Greenhalgh, “it’s about sponsors being able to market the athlete and promote their products.”
“As well as developing the riders on the bike, our experience will help these riders develop their skills in presentation and interviews. The fact that we have attracted premium brands shows that sponsors like what they are hearing and our riders can then take this forward in developing their careers as a top pro cyclist.”
After a great start to the season in winning the Revolution track series, the team starts it’s road campaign with the Clayton Velo Spring Classic, and the junior Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne UCI 1:1 race at the end of February. With the riders racing many UCI Nation Cup races and Tours along with the national Peter Buckley Series, the team is confident of some big wins and more importantly helping to show just how good British riders are in the big European classics.
The team would like to thank all the sponsors for helping to make this team possible.
